Vijayanagar
Vijayanagar. A kingdom in the south,founded in 1336 AD. It was in constant war against the Ganga and Suryavamsi kings of Orissa over territory in the Telengana area. Krishnadeva Raya defeated Prataprudra and occupied Orissa as far as Simhachalam. He married Prataprudra’s daughter, Jagamohini. Now in Andhra Pradesh. Vim ala . Goddess, whose temple is in the compound of the Puri Jagannatha temple- finds mention in Matsya Purana, Kapila Samhita and Skandha Purana. She is Bhairavi while Jagannath is Bhairav (tantrasastra).
