Sikhara Temple
Sikhara Temple - The dominant form of temple achitecture of Orissa. Sikhar or spire rises above in almost vertical sweep sometimes with rows of miniature sikharas forming part of the wall surfaces as seen in the Lingaraja temple. The three dominant parts of a sikhara temple are (A)bada (B)gandi and (C)mastaka. It was a bone of contention between Bhanudeva IV and Vijayanagar empire. Krishnadeva Raya, the powerful king of Vijayanagar snatched it out of the control of Prataprudradeva .Many inscriptions are found from the temples of Simhachalam.Nrusinghanatha is the important temple of the place. . Singhabhum -Once an oriya speaking tract - it was merged into Bihar. Oriya movement was very strong with the active support of K.C Achary,Bhagabana Sarangi, Kanhu Kishore Pani,Purnachandra Tripathy and adan Mohana Sarangi. Pandit Gopabandhu Das and Pandit Godavarish Mishra, Golmundi Oriya Samaj and Singhbhum Utkal Sabha carried on the agitation for merger with Orissa.
