Savara
Savara . An aboriginal people; a scheduled tribe- Pliny called them surai and Ptolemy described them as Sabarai. , Savara chief Visvavasu who worshipped Nilamadhava is a 1aracter of the tradition. History reveals many savara 1iefs ruling in different parts of Orissa, such as Dhenka avara in Dhenkanal, and Baragharia savara of the lahendra hills of Koraput. Savaras are priests of the village eities in many places. Their god is Kitung or Jagant.
amang is the leader of the savara society and Janis are leir priest. They are lovers of music and dance- they use DW and arrow- women love flowers-purans called them ratas.
