Sahasra Kumbha Avisekha Festival of Puri
The Autmaol festival starts with Sahasra Kumbha Avisekha or the consecretion of the thousand vessels, which begins on the 8th day of the dark fortnight in the month of Aswina (October). On this occasion Goddess Vimala and other female deities inside the temple enclosure are exclusively worshipped, according to the Sakta or Tantric rites. Between Sahasra Kumbha Avisekha andDasaha Goddess Laxmi lowering observes the Dwitiya Osa festival in her temple which is a festival of fresh, grown vegetables.
