Puri Temples Legend
The Brahama Purana, Narada Purana and Utkala Khanda of Skanda Purana describe vividly the construction of the shrine of Purusottama. Although, Brahama Purana mentions about the performance Asvamadha Sacrifice (vedic rite performed by Kings), however Purusottam Mahatmya of Skanda Purana presents it more elaborately. The legend prevails till today is more or less akin to the description of Skanda Purana.
