Toshali Sands

Pulakesi II-Chalukya king-involved in tripartite struggle with Sasanka and Harshavardhan-marched into Orissa on the eastern coast and passed through Kosala and Kalinga before 634 AD during the Sailodbhava rule. Puranas-Religious literature, eighteen in number, deals with tales, legends, religion, dynastic history, geography and culture. Vishnu Purana, Narada Purana,Bhagabata Purana,Garuda Purana, Padma Purana, Kurma Purana and Varaha Purana sing the praise of Vishnu. Sivapurana, Vayu Purana,Skandha Purana and Agni Puran are composed in praise of Siva. Markandeya Purana,Brahmanda Purana and Bhavisya Purana centre around Brahma.
