Oriya Literature
Oriya Literature - Said to have developed from Sanskrit and Ardha-Magadhi ( a kind of Prakrit) literatures - now a distinctly separate branch of modern Indian literature. Oriya poetry flourished through the writings of Sarala Das, sunyavadi panchasakha poets (Jaganatha Das and others). Upendra Bhanja ( ritiyuga), Radhanatha roy (modern) and Sachidananda Routrouy ( post - modern).
Oriya short story and novel progressed through the works of Brajanatha Badajena, Fakir mohan, Kalindi charan Panigrahi, Surendra Mohanty, Gopinatha Mohanty, Kanhu Charana Mohanty, Manoj Das , Chandra sekhar Rath and Prativa Roy. Some of the other creative writers are Sitaka~ta Mahapatra and Ramakanta Rath in poetry, Chittaranjan Das in criticism, Kavichandra Kalicharan Pattanaik and Manoranjan Das in drama. Oriya literature has bagged many Central Sahity Acadame and Gyanapitha awards.
