Orissa, Puri: The Diamond Triangle
The Diamond Tringle comprises of Ratnagiri, Udayagiri & Lalithgiri (now Lalitgiri is located in Cuttack district). These three hills and their environs make a remarkable Buddhist complex. Archaeologists have unearthed records of Buddhist relies in the fro of extensive ruins of brick pagodas, sculptured stone portals and esoteric Buddhist images signifying the ancient glory.
These three and the neighboring hills like Kayama and Langudi etc., are believed to have been the site of a huge University Complex, which in fact had been identified by Hieun Tsang as the site of a flourishing Buddhist University called Puspagiri.
At Ratnagiri the findings have been the richest in terms of cultural treasure; two large monasteries, a large stupa, Budhist shrines and numerous sculputres, magnificently carved door jambs of the Viharas and superbly finished concentration of Buddhist sculptures of the post Gypta period.
The ruins at Udayagiri have recently brought to light the ancient name of the monastery as Madhavapura -Mahavihara.
Ratnagiri 80ks, from Jaipur and 32 kms. from Chandikhol & Udayagiri is 75 kms. from Jaipur and 25 kms. from Chandikhol.
SINGHAPUR
It is called Narayan Pitha, locate at 45 kilometers from Jaipur Town.
SATYAPRIYA
The Dargha worshipped by all communities as 72 kms from Jaipur Town.
KURANGA
The presiding diety is Lord Chananeswar and is located at 40 kms from Jaipur Town.
CHHATIA
The place is popularly known as Chhatia Bata and is famous for the temple of Lord Jagnnath. Archelogicl remains of Amaravati-katak, one of the five important forts of King Chodaganga Deva is located nearby. This historical place is only 30 kms away from Cuttack.
CHANDIKHOL
It is an ideal picnic spot and the ashram of Baba Bhairavananda is located here. It is 40 kms north of Cuttack on the NH.5
MAHAVINAYAKA
Adjacent to Chandikhol, Mahavinayaka enshrines the five heads in one lingma. It is a place of worship for Lord Ganapati.
GOKARNIKA
It is situated on the bank of river Brahmani and the presiding diety is Lord Gokarneshwar. The place is 40 kilometers from Jaipur & 50 kilometers from Cuttack.
ASHOKAJHAR
A science spot which is 75 kms. from Jaipur & 38 kms, from Jaipur-Keonjhar road.
VYASASROBARA
The place is one on the outskirts of JK Road and is a sacred place of pilgrimage named after Vyasadeva.
FESTIVALS
A part from many other festivals, Durga Puja & Kali Pura are the most auspiciously celebrated festivals in the district of Jaipur.
APPROACH
RAIL: The nearest railhead is at JK Road on South Eastern Railway which is 35 km. from the District Headquarters.
ROAD : Jaipur is connected with Cuttack, Bhubaneswar & Kolkata by an all weather road. Both Government and Private buses ply regularly.
