Nayak laksmana- Leader of the Mathili agitation of the adivasis of Koraput against the British during Quit India Movement. The people attacked the police station on 21 st August 1942.He was injured in police firing and arrestedwas hanged on 29 August 1943 - a martyr. Neolithic culture- Culture of new stone age .It made technical advancement in human civilisation.

Tool making and agricultural practices were developed -these tools have been discovered from Kaniha in Anugul district and pottery from Bideipur ,Balasore. Nilagiri agitation- Feudatory state of Balasore districtwitnessed agitation of the people from 1928 to 1947 against the oppressive rule of the ruling chief. Nilagiri merged to the state of Orissa in 1948 after successful agitation of the Praja mandala. Nilagiri town contains some Mahayana Buddhist images in a modern temple waiL Mahayana Bhuddhism prevailed here in the past.
