Kantilo - Standing elegantly on the baks of the Mahandai, Kantilo is famous famour for the Temple of Lrod Nilamadhaba on top of the twin hills with a surrounding of green forests. Lord Nilamadhaba occupies a preeminent position in the cult of Lrod Jagannath. A permanent flow of holy water from the feet of Lord Nilamadhaba Lord Siddheswar are the highlights of the place. Kantilo has the most popular picnic spots in Orissa and is 100 kms away from the capital.
Purunakatak - It is here that the Goddess Bhairavi is enshrined. She is considered to be the another incarnation of the mother Goddess. Followers come in huge numbers for the annual festival held in October-November. A religious place, Purunakatak is on the itinerary of the religiously inclined.
Odagaon - Odagaon is known for the Temple of Lord Raghunathjeu. It is one of the famous Temples in Orissa dedicated to Lord Ramachandra. Ramanavami is the most important festival celebrated here. Odagaon is 30 kms away from Nayagrah (town). It is said that the renowned poet of Orissa Upendra Bhanja mediated here and attained perfection in the Rama Taraka Mantra. This temple was built around 1903. The ‘Kalas” of the Temple was can can see the Daitekesar Temple and the Budha Budhiani Temple.
Sarankul - The Shrine of Lord Ladukeswar, known popularly as Ladu Baba is situated here, 100 kms from Bhubaneswar on the Nayagrah- Aska Road. The city is regarded as Hari (Vishnu) and Hara (Shiva). There is always a crowd of people here waiting to see the Lord. People from all over Orissa come here to celebrate the major fetivals. This is another major Shaivite Shrine. So the place aglows on the occasion of Mahashivaratri.
Sunakhala - Sunakhala is placed between Bhubaneswar and Nayagrah. It is a junction, where one road goes to Ranpur and other three roads go to Odagaon, Bhubandewar and Kantilo. This place is pleasing to the eye. The climate is pleasant. At Sunakhala we can see a beautiful Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Daspalla - Daspalla is situated near Nayagrah, here we can find forests with incredibly lush flora and fauna. Daspalla is famous for its jungles, animals and trees. Here the Government has constructed a water project named Kuanria Dam. It is one of the most interesting Picnic Spots. A Deer Park close by is another attraction.
Barmul - This small village gets promience due to the mangrificent Mahandi gorge on the bank on which it is situated. From Sunakania hills up to Barmul, the course of the river is known as the “Satakosia Ganda (Gorge)’ having a water spread of about 22 km. Barmul, 110 km form Bhubaneswar is an ideal place for an outing. Satakosia Gorge Satakosia is a biological refuge and is a considered as an important biographical stepping stone in the link between forest species of Central Indian and South India. Satkosia has significant gentic and ecological important as is the wet portion of the Decan Zone. It is famous for its unique gorge eco-system and beautiful picnic spot.
Gania and Kuturi These are two sub-divisions of Nayagarh district famous for its natural beauty and the artistic excellence of Orissan art. These are lovely picnic spots under cool mango groves and other shady trees by the side of a hillock. Picturesquely carved out of the big mountains, these two places create an impression of a zoological park where animals move in their natural habitat. These relaxing spots surrounded by nature preserve varieties of indigenous plants, both decorative and medicinal.
