Maratha Rule in Orissa- The treaty of 1751 between Alivardi Khan, the ruler of Bengal and Bhonsle of Nagpur established Maratha rule in Orissa .The river Suvarnarekha came to be known as the frontiers of Bengal and Orissa. Mir Habis was the first subedar. Maratha rule came to an end in 1803.
