Lingaraja Temple
Lingaraja Temple- Famous siva shrine at Bhubanesvara, built by Somavamsi king Yayati-II (between 1030 and 1065AD) and completed by his son Udyota Kesari (Mandalapanji). Height 180 feet. Pancharatha style rekha deula with Jagamohan, Natamandapa and Bhogamandapa -known for its artistic excellence and sculptural beauty Lingaraj is a combination of Hari and Hara concepts-best architectural monument of Orissa. Lama Taranath- Tibetan chronicler of tenth century AD describes Orissa as Odivisa and as a centre of Mahayana Buddhism of tantric importance. Langudi~ Hill in the Jajpur area -recently Buddhistimages and relics in good number have been discovered.supposed to be a centre of Mahayana Buddism -may be Puspagiri Vihar of the past.
