Khuntia Chakhi
Khuntia, Chakhi- Employed in the palace of queen Laxmi Bai of Jhansi-hailed from Puri -accused of taking part in the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857. Khurdha- Headquarters of the kings of Orissa for a long time. In its neighbourhood are Somesvara temple at Badapada and Gopinatha temple at Kakudia. Paik rebellion of Khurdha 1817AD -Buxi Jagabandhu led this rebellion. Khurdha copper plate grant reveals the overlordship of Sasanka over Sailodhbhava king Madhavaraj-II of Kan’goda. Barunei hill is a place of interest. Atri, a place of hot spring nearby, a place of interest.
