Tikarpara
The majestic Satakosia gorge with lush green forest and rich wild life in the eastern direction is an ideal place of interest alike. The meandering Mahanadi flowing amidst to beautiful hills forms a here the migtiest gorge in India measuring 2121 km. long. It is acclaimed as one of the world’ most ehnanting spots. Tikarpara, an important spot on the left bank of the gorge is 58 km. from Angul and connected by regular bus service. A Gharial Crocodile santuary set up here, has enhanced the importance of this place. A forests rest house (reservation authority is D.F.O. (Wild Life). Angul is there for accommodation of the nature loving people who want to spend a day or two.

Talcher:
The old capital of the ex-state of Talcher, it is one of the fast growing industrial areas of Orissa. The establishment of Talcher Tharmal Power Station, the larvest coal based feritlizer plant. Heavy Water Plant and the Talcher colleries have greatly enhanced the importance of this place. Another attraction of the place is the Rani Park, which extends over an area of 64 squre kim. Having walls on all sides and preserves varied flora and fauna. Roads are laid inside the park to facilitate watching of wild life at close quarters.

Talcher is 20 km from Angul and 65 km from Dehnkanal. It is connected with N.H. 42 by N.H. 23 at Banarpal. Regular bus services are available to Talcher from Angul. Dhenkanal. Cuttack and Sambalpur.

Banarpal
Situated at only 10 km. from Angul on the junction of N.H. 23 and N.H. 42 Banarpal is a convenient base for highway tourists. A wayside amenities centre (Panthika) of state Tourism Department is nearing completion to provide accommodation and other ancillary facilities to the tourists.

Deul Jhari
Located amidst a bowl of green at a distance of 85 kms. from Angul and 5 km from Anthamllik Deul Jhari has claimed a place in the Tourist map of Orissa for its hot sulphir spring and celebrated shrine of Lord Shiva. The water of the spring having medicinal properties is channelised to 36 ponds. A bath in the spring water which can cure skin diseases is a pleasant experience. Four Shiva Temple dedicated to Lord Siddheswar, Ikedarear, Maheswar and Jagesuar are found here Goddess Khambesvari is also enshrined very nearer to it who is worshipped in the form of stone pillar. Hundreds of devotees gather daily in this place. Sivaratri here is the main festival which draws a large crowd. Regular bus services operate from Athmallik to Deuljhari.

Khuludi
The Malyagiri range of Pallahara sub-division in Angul district hosues a glittering water fall near the village Khuludi. The fall making a spectacular jump from the hill top pay homage to Lord Shiva on the foot hill. Located at a distance of about 120 km. from Angul and 20 km, from Pallahara it is a nice place for picnic and relxation.

Sarang
At Sarang, 3 km south of the Talcher town lies on the right bank of the rocky bed of river Brahmani, the Anatasayee (sleeping) Vishnu image. The hoods of Anata, the serpent, spread over the head of Lord Vishnu at the Crown. The primal lotus housing Brahma, the cretor, originates from Vishnus navel. Vishnu, the supreme being enjoying deep delight of his cosmic sleep in the water of river Brahmani affords a unique sight for the visitors. This is an ideal place for picnic and relaxation.

Bhimkhand
About 30 km. north of Talcher town another sleeping image of Lord Visnhu is found at Bhimkhand on the right bank of river Brahmani. This image is the second largest image in India in size, the Gomatesvar in Karnataka being the fist. However it has the honour of being the largest sleeping image. The period of its construction is assigned to 8th 9th Century A.D.

Rengali
In the Rengali river Brahmani shelters a dam with Hydroeletric project amidst picturesque environments. A ncie palce for grojup picnickers, it is 85 kms. from Angul.

Samal
Located at a distance of 40 km. from Angul and 20 km from Talcher. Samal has carved out a niche for itself in the Grand hall of Orissa Tourism for the establishment of a Hydro-electric project. The panoramic view with deep solitude is a panacea to group picnickers.

Kualo
On the out skirts of village Kulao, are located a number of Shiva temple like Lord Kanakeswar, Baidyanath Pashimesvar, Balunesvar and Kapileswar. Having a rich cultural hertiag Kualo was the capital of Kodalaka mandala ruled by the sulkis.

Gopal Prasad
A travel to Angul and its adjacent area remains incomploete on the part of the tourists without having a Darsan of Goddess Hingula enshrined at Gopal Prasad, 14 kms, from Talcher. Previously the titualary deity of the Raj family of Talcher she is now treated s the presiding deity of Talcher area. Facing east she is worshipped in the form of a stone image. On her backside Goddess Khambesvari is worshipped in the form of stone pillar. It is important to mention here that Stambhesvari (the Sanskritised form of Khambesvari) was the presiding diety of the Sulkis who were ruling over this are in the 8th Century A.D. A big mela knwn as Hingula jatra is held in the month of Chaitra which draws large crowd from different parts of Orissa.
