The shrine is located at a distance of 80 kms from Koraput amidst a thick growth of Sal forest. The place can be approahced by a forest tract which starts from the east of the Ramagiri hill up to a distance of 19 kms. Due to its traditional associton with Ramayana figures the place has became a center of pilgrimate in the neighbouring tracts of Orissa and Chaitshgarh where it is regarded as ‘Gupta kedara’. The cave shrine containing the Siva Linga is noticed at a highest of 151 meters higher than the surrounding country side. In between the cave the giant Sivalinga rising to a height of 6 feet within a roughly circular chamber has become the main centre of attraction. The Linga is 10 feet in circumference and is said to be a Swayabhu (Natural Shaped) linga.
A Panthasala has been made to cater to the budgeted tourist by the state department of Tourism with the reservation authority manage, Panthasala, Gupteswar.
