Orissa has given the world a number of forms of performing arts, handicrafts and handlooms and curios. The world famous Oddissi classical dance was born in the state particularly at Puri with the Temple dance of Devadasis insipred by Jayadeva’s Gita Govinda. The Ikat, The Berhampuri Silk, Sambalpuri Saree, and Nuapatna (Dhenkanal) Patta etc., are a famous variety of sarees available in the local market at Puri.
