Chandan Jatra (May 15) On this day the “Chalanti Pratima” (Representative Idol) Madan Mohan idol of Lord Jagannath comes to Narendra Puskarinia (Pond) at Puri to perform “Chpaa Khela” (Play on the boats). Lord Manda Mohan plays for 21 days on the two boats. After playing for 21 days the Lord Madan Mohan returns to the Temple. Lots of devotees come to see this unique play of Lord Madan Mohan known as “Chap Khela”.
Akhaya Trutiya (May - 150) 3rd day of bright fortnight of Baisakha (May) Named as “Akshaya Trutiya” is marked for the world famous “Rath Yatra” of Puri. On this day the construction work of three Raths (Chariots) of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra with Sudersan is started by the skilled carpenters.
Budda Jayanti - (May 24) The birthday ceremony of Lord Buddha is observed as ‘Buddha Jayanti’ throughout the world. One this day the people who believe in Buddhism offer their devotion. They also remember the teachings of Lord Buddha and try to follow them in their life.
