Chakra Tirtha
A sacred place among the Hindus located on the South-East of Jagannath Temple on the Sea-Beach popularly known as C.T. Road heading torwards Pentha Kata - The fisherman’s village. The Niladri Mohadaya extolls the holiness of Chakra Tirtha. There is the legend associated that the Daru Brahama of Lord Jagannath was to reach here on the ocean. It is a sacred place. Now the Temple of Chakra Narayana and Cahkra Nursimha is worshiped by Hindus. It is also said that the ocean being the paternal house of Goddess Laxmi, Lord Jagannath visits to this place to his in-laws house during certain days like Ambasya. The Sunara Gouranga Temple is also located in this area which has standing image of Gour and Gopal. The Temple looks a modern day edifice but the Temple is worth a visit. Chakra Tirtha, is an area where one can find a number of moderate Hotels and a small market area. The sea beach is quiet and lonely, further ahead the village other wise known as “Nolia” Village is located. The traditional fishermen live here.
