Bada Danda
This is the Grand Road and is as wide as a modern freeway. It extends from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple, and is the scene of the great Festival of the Chariots or Ratha Yatra.

Chilka Lake
Situated southwest of Puri, Chilka is the largest fresh water lake in Asia (65 kms long, 8-20 kms wide, about 2 m deep). One can enjoy boating on the shimmering blue waters and in leisure one can enjoy fishing. It has been affectionately called as the “honeymooners’ paradise” and “breakfast island.” The simmering blue water makes it an excellent site to have a break from the monotonous daily routine.

Cuisine in Puri

The curry leaves deep fry and Powder, take Jeera, Pepper, Saunf Cinnamon, Cardamom, Jai Patra nut meg. Roast and powder. Heat oil in a pain fry Onions till golden brown, add ginger and garlic paste. Chilly powder turmeric coriander powder and fry till oil separates from masala, add cook wall. UseFul Information About Puri

According to Cunningham the ancient name of this town was Charitra mentioned by the Chinese pilgrim Hiuen Tsang as Che-li-ta-lo. But the restoration of the word Che-li-ta-lo as Charitra and its identification with the town of Puri is open to doubt. The importance of the town as a seat of Vaisnavism increased when Chodaganga Deva constructed the temple of Purusottama Jagannath and installed the image of the deities. Thereafter, it become famous as the abode of Purusottama and was popularity called Purusottama Kshetra.
